FIND YOUR NEXT LEADER
A Start to Finish, Equitable Hiring Process
-
STEP ONE: Define & Launch
We begin by partnering to:
1) Define the job description and the competencies aligned to the job description
2) Define the timeline for each step in the process
3) Backwards plan a rubric and guide for the resume review, phone screen, project, and half-day or full-day final interview (stakeholder panel, co-worker panel, direct report panel, one-on-one with manager)
4) Train and norm hiring participants on the rubric and guide for each step of the process
5) Prepare the job posting on Josh’s K12 Jobs Blast website and advertisements for the Blast Newsletter, Website, and Spreadsheet
-
STEP TWO: Recruit & Assess
We continue to partner by:
1) Launching the job posting, advertising on Josh’s K12 Jobs Blast, and reaching out to all matching candidates in the 10,500+ leader network
2) Collecting and screening all resumes, scoring them on the rubric, and providing a list of names to approve for a phone screen
3) Conducting and scoring all approved phone screens, scoring them on the rubric, and providing a list of names to approve for a project submission
4) Conducting the project round, scoring them on the rubric, and providing a proposed list of 3 to 5 finalists
5) Collecting stakeholder ratings on the half-day or full-day interview and providing the hiring team a final summary of all scores for each of the 3 to 5 finalists
-
STEP THREE: Hire & Place
We complete the process by partnering to:
1) Serve as a thought partner, if needed, on the hiring selection
2) Conducting reference checks
3) Notifying other finalists of the organization’s decision
4) Negotiating salary and placement
5) Writing and launching the placement announcement
